Helicopter Parenting

"Helicopter Parent"...is'nt it strange word?

Just came to know the meaning. If the meaning is what it is then every parent (ok..more or less with some exceptions) in India is a Helicopter parent.
I definitely don't think pushing kids in education, doing home works will really help them much. I am not as great as Gandhi but I always want to experiment from my childhood experiences (or read failures).

The major reason why I did not like Math is the rigid rules and serious faces around me when I start studying. When a question is asked I am not sure whether to think for the answer or worry about the hand which is about to hit me.

Until then we are all jovial then why it comes to learning time we tent to be more stricter and serious.

It is difficult to retain kids concentration. But doesn't mean you shd not try.We should explore different ways to make them get that "zing thing". Remember the best subjects we studied, remember the best results we got were when we are given space to study and we have to figure out things ourselves. We should encourage them to figure it themselves. We should create a environment where they can think. We should encourage them to ask questions. The day the kid stops asking questions then his intellectual curiosity is dead. He is just following your orders.

If pushing helps then every kid would have been a Ivy League graduate. But is it happening.Sometime later down the line, they rebel. They are confused and lose whole interest of lot of possible things they are good and can pursue great careers.

Surprised to see even western families are blindly embracing the 'Asian' approach, which I think is not correct.

The other day, I heard Hillary Clinton saying in India that in developing countries parents try to protect kids from making mistakes and try to give all inputs to their kids so that they shd never err.

But in Western countries parents give kids right environment and allow kids to learn from their own mistakes.

Sound interesting? I am not sure which one is better? If it is proved that it is latter then do we, parents, allow kids to learn from their own mistakes.
Forget "learning from mistakes"we won't even make them "think what is mistake"!!

Shahrukh airport masala news

Tired of reading this Shahrukh Airport frisking (??still 100% not sure what does it mean) in news and blogs. One thing is clear every comman blogger, commenter is unanimous in saying what's big deal and even suggesting ShahRukh shd have shut his ass and just followed the rules. I never saw this way of people agreeing on one point in blogosphere.
Completing surprising to what our great Indian Media and stupid Ambika Soni saying about the episode.
Talking even a single word on Indian Media, their rationale, logic more is like puking on my own blog.
But what's happening to this Central minsiter? How can this stupid Soni say that immature words being a Minister.

Lunch Time in Seattle downtown

Doing some thing different in office time is always a thrilling thing. Daily routine of going and coming back is such a boring routine. I am not that corporate high-flier or the one who is ambitious to have a killing career.I am just working just to realize my 'other' ambitions. Not that my office work is bad. Actually I get some breathing time to do these small adventures in between.

These photos are taken when I visited Seattle Library. Even though it is two blocks away from my office I never visited it before. It is really huge glass building and seems to me that they want to utilize the natural light in the library. Seems to be that concept is working.
Building is great to look from inside and outside as well.
See a auditorium with Microsoft name. This is because they gave lot of funding for this library. Not only here they give lot of funding to the University of Washington which is one of the top University in Medicine and Management in the world!
Anyone complaining capitalism?

Blaming ISKCON for helping Indian poor?

I was prepared for this but not soo soon. This time these people are not attacking RSS, VHP but proven benign organizations like ISKCON.
What for?
Just because they are helping Indian poor. ISKCON is blamed for marketing Indian poor to get funds from abroad. How can this be possible?
If you are asking funds for any cause you have to tell and show what for you are asking money.
Fund raising is a marketing activity. It is globally known fact.Is it wrong if they show some photos of Indian poor abroad to get funds? That too for uplifting them and giving a good life?

Having been in India and presently in US I see a huge difference in the way ISKCON is perceived. It isa really great noble organization with a firm objective in what they want to do.They are, at max, do persuasive talk but never indulge in any thing more. But some bad forces in India propagated a malign campaign against them and forever corrupted Indian mindset. I am not sure who but really there is a big system who is corrupting Indians about this Organization.
I saw this Organization from long time, scrutinized very closely to say they can never do some thing bad and something which they don't believe.
Who gives funds for ISKCON in abroad? No Jew, Xian and definitely not Muslims?
Most of them will be Krishna devotees or Hindus. So what is there to market them. They know every thing in India.

If at all anyone have to be worried about India then they shd see how India is shown in SlumDog Millionaire movie and its after-effects. When this movie got recognition in West, this same Indian media, without thinking in what way, started praising this movie as one which took India globally .
Globally..my foot. Every one now equates India with Africa. I personally saw 4-5 instances where they refer Global poverty with Indian slums.

Why our Indian lambs (majority population) are not able to recognize who is saving India and who is defaming India.

Delhi 6 movie

How could any one dare to make a movie like Delhi 6?
I am not asking how can any one SEE this-movie.
But I am asking how can anyone MAKE this movie which is a absolute mockery of our own beliefs, culture and what we are.
People are soo used to get whipped left and right, see someone make mockery of their own religion, mother that they seem to be thick skinned to even understand what is the issue with this movie.I never really want to write this blog.

I just was planning to see a nice week-end movie. But seeing this movie really pissed me off and spoiled my week-end.

Man...how to tell this. Just for example, show this movie to any person who don't know any thing about India and after the movie ask his comments about Hindus and Indian culture. I brought out-sider just to show how a seemingly-innocuous-movie for all of us gives an awkward picture about Hinduism.
Just understand what kids, teenagers will get out of this movie? If you have seen this movie and still feel why I am writing all this..read on

1) This movie is a propoganda, propoganda to malign Indian culture, beliefs, customs.

2) Indians ,mainly Hindus are shown as people who follow some age old blind faith and Hinduism is a religion full of superstitions. If it is shown in one scene then fine we could excuse the director. But this is the theme of the movie. From first to last this is the whole point. This is the only point in the movie.
There are numerous situations like
-people of roads of Delhi stopping to get blessing from cow delivering a calf (I never saw this happen in India even in towns)
-mocking Ramleela ..showing people showing least interest in the actual show...politicians using to exploit the sentiments on stage etc. I talked to a friend of mine who said in Delhi Ram Leela is seen with great piousness and no politician can never dare to break in between the show to give speech or any thing.
-Puja in Hero's house is shown with no one interested in what they are doing. Moreover, people are shown like wild dogs shouting at each other in pooja/bhajan time.
-Heroine father holding his 'janeu' thread in a ugly way after coming out of toilet.
-hindus are shown as violent rowdy mob without any reasoning and rationality and always full of hate to kill Muslims.

3) The opposite way of showing Islam, Muslims.
I don't have any issues with showing Islam, Muslims in a positive, respected way. How can I?But when shown in tandem with negative potrail of Hinduism the differences really poke out. What is the hidden agenda of the director?
-Only one Hindu, the heroine is shown positively. But what Hindu is she? She never wears bindi (ok..accepted these days). She never even come to pooja when whole family along with extended family is performing pooja (this is rare). Is this what the director want all Indian young girls to do if they are Hindus?
-Muslims doing namaz was shown in a great positive way with great background music. We can see the piousness and peacefulness when the director shows the namaz scenes. But why he showed the opposite way for what ever way Hindus are praying?

Am I overreacting? All my points are incorrect? I am sure who ever saw this movie can atleast say I am not concocting the scenes.

Victory for Passive Mindset

Lot of theories and conclusions came out of this Indian election results but the unfortunate bottom line is we are not ready to be a great nation who vote for real Indianness. It was a real oppurtunity lost for us to be assertive and show what Indianness is.
Two main points to be considered are:
1) Indians becoming partially seft-suffiecent, totally passive.
-Around 40s majority of Indians are involved in nation building exersice. That spirt started to decrease gradually and reached its nadir in 2009.
This 2009 election result is a victory of passive mind-set of Indians. The mandate is clear indication of pure lethargic mentality of the Indians. Indians want every thing. We want development, become super power etc without any change. Every one know Congress under Manmohan is doing nothing. But still they don’t want new dynamic govt. They don't want someone challenging them to do some thing good.

-This vote is like a opinion of a a lazy employee working in a maintenance project under a lazy project manager for a long time. Suddenly a new boss came and started improving process and performance ask emplyees to embrace new technology to make the project efficient then how do the employee feel. He will feel the old Project Manager is better. Same thing happened here.Chal raha hai..chal ne do attitude is what we see clearly.

-People are ok for any Govt that keeps them in their existing gutter. Better continue with what they are used to rather than change and get more issues, even if the change offers them good governance.

-This quasi-state of Indian progress is giving our people a sense of comfort which they donnot want to lose. Let terrorists come and attack us, let Politicians do nothing, let hell be there why bother when u r getting what you want to survive.

2) Indian Media playing great role in demonizing BJP.
-There is one party who have clear agenda and have clear vision to stir the country towards irrevocable development, but people are scared of that party. Media role in building this 'scare' have to be carefully scrutinized.

-Some voters got into the trap of the Media and got scared of BJP.
-It is pathetic to see Indian Middle class did not see the problems to a Hindu, getting side-lined by, not by a Meritous person but by a person who just happens to be a Minority person.

-People did not get it right (some reasons are because of our media)
When BJP said No appeasement - People are made to think it is anti-Muslim.
When BJP said No Terrorism - People are made to think as more communal riots.
When BJP said Nationalism - People are made to think they are saying 'ONLY HINDU'.

Never in History was a major Political party’s benign message was soo distorted and shown in a completely negative way. We have to appreciate media for the role they played in these elections.

-Now Hindus is lonely in India. If he want to raise a voice as a Hindu no one will support him. No sympathy for a person who recognize himself as Hindu. People have to get shelter with some caste or some sect based community but not under our great religion Hinduism. It it a illusion that the majority are Hindus.Organizations like VHP and other Hindu organizations shd rethink their strategy when fighting with these 'pseudo secular' forces. They might lose sympatizers even in people like me if they cannot make a image makeover and show Hindusism as most progressive and dynamic (which it is....more on that in later )
-In a way this election results are good because time have come to raise Hindu voices up, non-political way. Now the forces who speak for majority are underdogs. Indians like underdogs.

-Media have effectively made Indians ashamed of their own Hindu background. Now the rampage of conversion, Muslim appeasement politics will continue for long time to come.

-This victory is a license to convert for 5 more years with disdain. We can do nothing but be a silent spectator.

-All these forces who made this possible have to be defeated. No matter how tough it is , no matter how underdogs we feel in this majority country we have to fight or else...the time will come when Hindus are no longer a majority in India.
